"Discernment" was the lesson that kept coming up for me at the time of making this work. Often my process of creating artwork with natural subjects leads me to contemplate on the creature's spirit and it's medicine. I asked myself "are there characteristics and skills that the fox holds, that could help me navigate my own life's challenges?" Patience, cleverness, calculated actions, leading with discernment were all valuable attributes to mediate on and consider during the making of this drawing. It is a great honour to feel like the land and it's spirits are so generous in sharing their wisdom with me and it is my intention that the finished work carries that wisdom to everyone who wishes to receive it.
